Measurements for vitamins

1 gram = 1,000 milligrams (mg) = 1,000,000 micrograms (mcg, also written as µg)

100ius of vitamin D = 2.5mcg

100ius of vitamin E = 67mg

ius = International Units

Measurement for Vitamins A, D and E. It was designed to standardize the various forms of these vitamins that have different potencies.

1mcg of retinol (mcgRE) = 3.3 ius of vitamin A

1mcgRE of betacarotene = 6mcg of betacarotene

6mcg of betacarotene = 1mcgRE (RE stands for retinol equivalent)

Betacarotene is the vegetable precursor of vitamin A. Retinol is the animal form of vitamin A. On average, every 6mcg is converted into 1mcg of retinol.
